Hi guys today i am going to explain you How to calculate weight of mild steel bar.
WEIGHT OF STEEL BAR = volume x density
![]() |
M.S STEEL BAR |
so
VOLUME of ms steel bar = A x H
Where A = Area of steel
H = height/Length of steel bar
here we have to find out unit weight of steel for 1 meter length/Height
D = 8mm⇒ r = 0.004 meter
L/H= 1 meter
VOLUME OF STEEL = 𝝿r²H
Volume of steel bar = 3.14 X (0.004)² X 1
V =0.00005024 M³
Density of steel = 7850 kg/m³
WEIGHT OF STEEL BAR = volume x density
W = 0.00005024 X 7850
W = 0.395kg
Given formula can be use to find out unit weight of steel
unit weight of steel = D²/162
D = Dia of steel in mm
we have D = 8mm
so
unit weight of steel = (8 x 8)/162
= 0.395 kg
THIS IS FOR UNIT WEIGHT
NOTE
if we have different different length of bar so we can use
formula W = D²L/162
D = dia of bar in mm
L= length of bar in METE
IF Length of bar is 5 Meter
D = 20 mm
so
WEIGHT OD STEEL BAR
= [(20 X 20) X 5}/162
W = 12.34 KG
